Role: The Config Vault
- Primary Role: Dedicated Backup / Light NAS.
- Network: Plug into a 1GbE port on the RB5009.
The Play
Use it as a dedicated configuration backup vault. Run a cron job to pull .rsc backups from the MikroTiks, /etc/pve backups from Proxmox, and Pi-hole databases daily to an independent physical drive.
Peripherals to Leverage
This specific board has a native onboard SATA controller. Buy a 2.5" SATA SSD and a Banana Pi SATA cable. Set this up with OpenMediaVault (OMV) or a simple NFS/SMB share to automatically store backup configurations of your critical infrastructure.
